In this TV Interview Seth Stutman of Mass Appeal WWLP interviews me on the biggest mistakes business owners make on social media.
The first mistake is forgetting to have a call to action. So many business owners work on putting content out on the internet and they are not seeing the leads come in from their hard work. There needs to be a call to action. Your audience won't do anything unless you tell them to do it so make sure you have an idea of what you want. You can ask them to like, share, or comment on your video (helps rankings). You could ask them to visit your website, call you, or go to a landing page to claim their free book or report!
The second mistake is not having a lead magnet. A lead magnet can be anything that you can offer your audience to get them to opt-in to your list. I get the most leads out of offering mini-books on many different social media and video marketing topics but you can do full books, small special reports, checklists, USB drives, and video trainings. You can charge for these things (a little or a lot) or give them away for free. The nice thing is that you can do A/B testing and figure out which one lead magnet is working best and keep tweaking your campaigns until you are happy with the results!
The third mistake is not having a long-term follow up plan. Only about 10% of your audience is ready to buy now. Can you imagine if you had a system for long term follow up? I use a video email service to do a weekly video blog. I'm not selling anything but there is always an ask. I also offer a weekly Q&A session for anyone who wants to hear the latest on Social Media and Video marketing.
